Information for improving your own mental health

Readings and resources

for in-between sessions with your psychologist

When we work with clients to help them achieve their therapeutic goals, there are several parts to this process. One part of therapy is psychoeducation, which provides background information to explain your experiences, where common responses come from, and why they occur. Another part is to teach you coping strategies and other techniques so that unwanted experiences occur less often, or have less of an impact on you.

As a client, this information can be a lot to take in all at once. Some people have found it helpful to take away readings they can do in between sessions. Homework activities can help to consolidate some of the skills and strategies learned in session, or just serve as good practice!

Some clients prefer to have this info emailed to them rather than printed out, for various reasons. So I was looking through my resources folder the other day for a handout to email, and I realised it might be easier to just make some of them available online. I’m not sure why it took me so long to think of it!

So, here we are. Below you’ll find some of our most popular and well-used infosheets, resources and handouts. Even if you’re not a client, please feel free to give them a go!
